Learning Environments: Exemplar J3

Standard: Designing Learning Environments to Support Participatory Learning

Theme: Designing for the Individual

Growth Phase: Established

Growth Indicator: Students develop their individuality, curiosity, and creativity through experiences in the LLC.

A local news story reports that students in a secondary school in British Columbia have had many possibilities opened up for them in a newly renovated LLC.  User-friendly, flexible and adaptable spaces provide safe and lively spaces to seek refuge, find resources, explore and create. All students can access a recording studio complete with microphones and green screens, 3D printers, mobile technology, robotics, a “maker space” with 3D printer, sewing machine, and electronic cutting machine and more. “Unplugged” activities such as Lego challenges, crocheting, and talent shows also thrive.
